Disable Windows Password Protected Sharing

When trying to open a program across the network, Windows requests Network Credentials.  This is an indication that Windows Password Protected Sharing is enabled.  The following instructions detail how to disable Password Protected Sharing in Windows.

 


1.     Click on Start or Windows icon in taskbar

2.     Type control in search box

3.     Select Control Panel from search results

 




 

4.     Select Network and Security or Network and Sharing Center




a.      Select Change advanced sharing settings from left panel menu

 



                                                    i.     Scroll to All Networks option

                                                  ii.     Click on arrow to expand

1.     Scroll to Password protected sharing

2.     Select Turn off password protected sharing radio button

3.     Select Save changes

b.     Close Network and Sharing Center window
