SnapStorm E Troubleshooting

When preview or sending a test email, if the message “Unable to connect to remote server” error is displayed, perform the following:

 

 

Verify Website Accessible

1.      Open internet browser window on Web server

2.      Enter URL using domain name

·        e.g.  snapstorm.snapstorm.com

 

 

 

Edit Windows Host File

1.      Click on Start or Windows icon on taskbar

2.      Type file in search box

3.      Select File Explorer from search results




4.      Select OS (C:) from left panel window

5.      Double-click on Windows folder in right panel window

 



6.      Double-click on System32 folder in right panel window

 



7.      Double-click on Drivers folder in right panel window

 



8.      Double-click on etc folder in right panel window

 


 

a.      Right-click on hosts file

b.      Select Open with Notepad++

 



c.      Scroll to bottom of file

                                                    i.     Enter Private IP address (obtained from ipconfig) of server

                                                   ii.     Press Tab

                                                 iii.     Enter domain name from Homing Beacon

                                                 iv.     Press Enter to create new line

                                                   v.     Enter local host IP address of 127.0.0.1

                                                 vi.     Press Tab

                                                vii.     Enter web server certificate name

d.      Select Save

e.      Close Notepad++

9.      Close all File Explorer windows


 

 

Example of edited Host file:  

·   Private IP:  192.168.10.12                   Domain:  dataserver.egenuitydns.com

·   Local Host IP:  127.0.0.1                    Web server certificate:  0999-010-acmewash.egenuitydns.com
